Goose Rocks Beach is a great and unique area for paddling. The sandy beach is protected from the open ocean by a series of rocky islands, which makes it a relatively calm area. This area is accessible at all tide levels.
A beautiful quintessential Maine Harbor, complete with Lobster Boats, islands, and a lighthouse. Inside the harbor generally stays calm, though it can get rough if you decide to venture outside the harbor.
An extremely tide dependent area, as the current at the launch site can be very strong if not timed correctly. The Pool is generally pretty calm, though it can get a little choppy on windy days.
The lower part of the river is Kennebunkport Harbor, which is not ideal for paddling due to boat traffic. The upper part of the river, above the bridge downtown, is a nice area to paddle.
A paddlers paradise, the Mousam River meanders through a tidal salt marsh. At the upper end, there's a park where you can stop and take a break.
This area is best around high tide. There is some boat traffic at the lower end, near the mouth of the river, but once you get above the harbor it's relatively quiet.
